This game would be our 1st against one of the recognised Premier league sides. Although the result went how most neutrals would have expected, I feel that we can take lots of positives from this game. In the main we showed a lot of fight, even until the very end. Some would even say that we deserved something from the game. We had dominated for a good 20 minutes before we conceded but our failure to convert our chances again let the opposition into the game.

Selection saw both Jacks’ and Robbo given an opportunity to start. Our bright start to the game was in the main due to some good midfield play and plenty of service for Dyl and Mike.

We were unlucky on three early occasions. Dyl turned his marker and shot at the keeper. Mike hit the underside of the bar and then a corner was missed by everybody when it was crying out for somebody to tap it in.

Shenley were gradually getting back into it and they saw a few chances go inches wide. Their left winger was delivering some great balls into our box and it was from him that both goals came. Two good crosses were finished of well although our marking in the box was not good.

Our lads kept their heads up and we finished off the half strongly with Jack D, Mike and Dyl all having shots off target.

The 2nd half was more end to end as the game opened up. Ryan made a strong impact and he had a shot saved. Dyl and Mike continued to do everything other than score. Often good build up play was spoilt with a bad final pass.

Jonjo had gone on and was holding the middle of the park well but you could see that Dayle and Henners were becoming heavy legged after lots of running on this big pitch

No more goals but plenty of excitement at both ends. Shenley took the points today but we showed signs that we are up for the fight in this division and that once again we competed with one of the top teams.
