It was a fine October evening and the crowds had gathered in hope of some flowing football and an end to end encounter.
Unfortunately Bill’s promises of an exhibition of pace and fitness from the parents ended up sadly lacking the pre-match hype.
Ravens youth dominated from the off with some fine ball retention and speedy break aways.
The OAPs only reply came in the way of Rod and his lack of understanding of the off side rule.
The OAPs attempts at bullying tactics were soon brushed aside when Big Jim Barnes was consistently beaten in 50-50 tackles. Vanessa Barnes showed that she clearly has been watching Olton closely as her pace and deft touches caused the Youth problems.
A late scare at the end of the 1st half resulted in Rod heading in from close range. Although the Linesman had signalled that Rod may have been half a mile offside.
The 2nd half was a different story as the Youth decided to stop toying with the OAPs. The humouring was over and it was time for football.
The OAPs were indebted to Rog the Dodge for his sterling efforts and keeping the scoreline down.
The pressure had to tell and Graham Hill finally fired the youth ahead. Scoring past his bewildered Dad.
Alex put the icing on the cake as class shone through and the Youth secured a comfortable win.
Bright points for the OAPs were Rog’s defending. Tracy's chest control and Billy’s disappointment.
I hope that the Ravens Youth took some clear and important lessons from the OAPs tonight.

2) DON’T DRINK
3) DON’T EAT JUNK
Well-done lads. I know you won’t get many easier ones than this but we will take the win and move on to some real football Sunday.
