Considering I coach this lot I think I should apologise on behalf of the team to everybody who made the effort to come and support the team.  I wouldn’t have wished to put anybody through an hour of that.

Whilst we were walking back to the cars I could hear discussions between our parents about the game and some of the words that stand out for me were SPINELESS, GUTLESS, ATROCIOUS and PATHETIC.  I would agree with each and every one of those.

I was watching Tottenham and Arsenal last night and at the end of the match they show you stats from the game.  Well I though I would show you a few from ours on Sunday

It winds me up that we can play good teams and be slightly unlucky in recent games.  If we had a goalscorer we would have won our last 3 matches.  Then we play Headless who are not even a patch on the other teams we have played and they wiped the floor with us.

Lets take it from the back. Ryan looked scared of the ball and every time it went near him I expected a goal.

The defence were timid and weak.  I couldn’t believe how slow we were pushing out when we cleared the ball.

The midfield…. well, we didn’t have one.  Not a tackle won, not a through ball, not even a challenge made during the whole game.

And the forwards.  Our forwards spent more time running away from the ball, or hiding from it than they did running after it.

Well, that pretty much gets all that out of the way.

So lets try and find a few positives.  When I looked at the player’s faces at the end of the game I saw only Dean, Scott and Alex who looked as if they had just ran their hearts out.

I couldn’t see much disappointment or embarrassment on anybodies faces other than my own, Mark’s and some parents.

Scotty was given a job to do and although he has had better games he stuck to his man as he was told to.  Deano showed courage and effort at left back and sweeper.  Alex was once again dropped into midfield because of other player’s lack of effort and commitment.

I just cannot believe what I witnessed Sunday.  It was the most gutless display from one of my teams ever.  We looked so afraid.

I am going to stop there I think.  I will deal with some of these issues at training.

Two games to go against teams below us.  This Sunday we are playing a team who needs to beat us to have a chance of staying up.  They will be committed and going all out for it.  If we aren’t, then we had better get ready for another hammering.
