Olton Ravens this week were without James and Matthew but welcomed back Lenie to the Midfield. Mark played the usual 3-3-1 formation with Joshua supporting the defence when needed and Jordan playing an attacking midfield role.

Headless Cross took the initiative from the whistle and began attcking the Ravens goal from the kick-off and were unlucky not to score after only 1 minute when the opposition attacker fired over the bar from just outside the box. This acted as a warning to the Ravens not to be too complacent and after this early scare began to get to grips, especially in the tight midfield area. The Ravens were passing better this week with some good early moves involving Joshua and Jonathan. One such pass lead to the first goal after good work by Jordan in midfield. A through pass caught out the Headless Cross defence and the ball ran through to Jonathan with Jordan supporting close by. Jonathan passed to Jordan who fired low but his shot was well saved by the opposition keeper, however the ball fell back to Jordan who slipped the ball under the keeper to make it 1-0 to the Ravens.

Hard pressure by the Ravens resulted in goal number 2 for Jordan 5 minutes later from a corner on the far side. A well taken corner by Jonathan found Robert in the box, the ball deflected off him into the path of Jordan who shot low into the corner of the net to make it 2-0.

Despite the set back of being 2 goals down Headless Cross rallied and began to fight back. Their ever hard working team created chances, winning 3 corners in the space of 5 minutes. They got the break through on 13 minutes when Headless Cross's number 7 Sam Poole ran through the middle of the field, beating the Ravens defence for pace and hit a super shot which Keeper Ryan got a hand to put could not keep it out of the net.

The Ravens and Headless Cross traded tackles and both teams worked hard at getting the ball through to their forwards but both defences were resolute and dangers were always cleared. Working hard for the Ravens were Dean who made some crunching tackles and Declan on the right side of defence who coped well with the lively Attackers of Headless Cross. The ever Industrious Robert held the opposition at bay with some good midfield work aided by Captain Joshua and the hard working Jordan .

The Ravens grabbed another goal just before the break from another corner on the same far side where goal number 2 came from. A short corner by Lenie found Jonathan unmarked who hit a superb half-volley into the roof of the net. 3-1.

The second half saw a few tactical changes with Ashley coming on and after 5 minutes and Joshua moving back in defence to replace Declan. Few chances came in the second half but the action was end to end. From his own throw-in Lenie had the ball returned to him and fired towards goal but his shot flashed inches wide of the post. Lenie almost repeated this when he found himself on the edge of the box unmarked. He again hit a good shot which went only just wide of the same upright.

Desperate to get back in to the game, Headless Cross began to try to push forward more and more. They pulled a goal back after 15 minutes when the hard working Tom Mitic hit a ball towards goal which bounced viciously in front of Ryan and over his head and it to the net to make it 3-2.

Olton Ravens were forced to work hard for the last 5 minutes but they managed to keep the visiting team at bay until the final whistle.
